When a Battery Helps
Batteries are useful when you want backup power during grid outages, or when you have no grid access at all (off-grid systems).
They also allow greater self-use of solar energy generated during the day but needed in the evening.
When You Might Skip It
If your main goal is reducing electricity bills and your grid supply is reasonably reliable, a battery-free on-grid system can be a simpler, lower-cost starting point.
Batteries can often be added later if your priorities change, subject to inverter compatibility.
