Key Benefits

Why This Scheme Matters

Lower Electricity Bills

Rooftop solar generation can offset a meaningful share of household electricity consumption, reducing what you pay the DISCOM every month.

Central Financial Assistance

Eligible households can receive central financial assistance (CFA) directly, reducing the upfront cost of a compliant rooftop installation.

Collateral-Free Loans

The scheme framework references low-interest, collateral-free loan products for rooftop solar through participating banks — subject to lender and portal terms.

Surplus Energy Export

Where net-metering is enabled by your DISCOM, surplus units exported to the grid can be credited against your bill, subject to local regulations.

One Crore Household Target

The scheme's stated national ambition is to support rooftop solar adoption across one crore households across India.

Reduced Grid Dependence

Widespread rooftop adoption is intended to ease pressure on daytime grid demand while cutting household carbon footprint.

Eligibility

Who Can Apply

You are a residential electricity consumer with an active, grid-connected connection.
You (or your household) own or have documented rights to install on the rooftop.
The rooftop has adequate shadow-free area and structural suitability for the proposed capacity.
The connection has not already availed rooftop solar subsidy under an overlapping central scheme.
You are able to register and track your application via the official National Portal.
