What the Scheme Is
PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a Government of India initiative launched in February 2024, aimed at supporting rooftop solar installations across one crore households.
Eligible residential consumers with a grid-connected electricity connection can apply through the official National Portal, subject to current eligibility rules.
Central Financial Assistance
Under the standard structure, central financial assistance (CFA) is calculated as a percentage of the benchmark cost: 60% for the first 2 kW, and 40% for an additional 1 kW (up to 3 kW), with no additional central CFA beyond 3 kW under the standard structure.
This works out to an illustrative maximum of up to ₹78,000 for a 3 kW-equivalent residential installation, though exact figures depend on the applicable benchmark cost at the time of application.
Important Disclaimer
Government subsidy/CFA rules, benchmark costs, eligibility, application procedures and state-level support may change. Always verify current details on the official PM Surya Ghar / MNRE portal before making financial decisions.
